A throwback to the first Academy Award winning film in this series on the humble “people’s champ”, this final film in the series is a fitting close and winning story that focuses more on the heart and soul than on boxing. Balboa, now in retirement, has lost his beloved wife, Adrian, to cancer, and struggles on, running his Philly restaurant, while trying to deepen his relationship with his grown son. When a sports network airs a virtual fight in which Balboa defeats the reigning champ, he is challenged to come out of retirement for one last battle. Drawing on the strength and inspiration from the memory of his beloved wife, and the new found devotion of his son, he prepares for the last great challenge of his life, and inspires all those near him to “never give up, never stop believing.”
